Description
Original first UK pressing on Track Records (true 1968 first press with upside-down matrix numbers on the labels) in earliest cover version (large photos and blue text).
Matrix numbers - parentheses indicate hand-written, # indicates scratch-outs:
Side A - 61300(##8) A//1
Side B - 61300(#9 A#)//1
Side C - (613009 B ######)//1
Side D - 61300(#8) B//1
Cover: Some edge wear and creasing of the laminate, a few dings, some bowing and one small tear at the opening (see outer cover photo, far right). Still looks and shows well.
Vinyl: Side A has a few surface marks which do not sound, the rest looks excellent. Playback is excellent with no skips, jumps or loud pops to distract from the amazing and powerful original (and unique to this pressing) mix.
An all around great copy. If you've never heard one of these original pressings, it's almost like experiencing this album for the first time all over again. It has none of the flaws exhibited by the subsequent Polydor issues (or the 1973 Track re-issue, for that matter), and blows the American issues out of the water.
