Jazz Graphics: David Martin Stone! by Manek Daver, Graphic-sha Publishing, Tokyo, Japan:1991. 157 pages of text. Brown paperback binding in Very Good Minus condition. The text is clean and unmarked. But there are some creases and to the wraps and its edges. It contains hundreds of color illustrations including portraits of musicians, record sleeve and label art. With a chapter by Dr. Martina Schmitz. Text is in English and Japanese. David Stone Martin drew more than 400 album covers and created covers for Time Magazine. His work is in the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Smithsonian Institution. He won numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators and the Art Directors Clubs of New York City, Boston and Detroit. He illustrated books, posters, billboards and advertisements for film, television and theater, and created cover art for Asch, Clef, and Jazz at the Philharmonic labels of the 40"s and 50"s! This would be a wonderful addition to anyone's library!
