The item for sale is JASON REYNARD`S SOUL. That is me in the picture at a young age, when my soul was budding, if you will?

The reason I am selling my soul is so that I can raise enough money to support a project that will take place this summer. I am currently a Political Science major at Ohio University, and the truth is that I havent really bought into the American Dream, so 40 years after Dr. Hunter S. Thompson went on his excursion to find that dream, I will search for it again. The question is...did it already die?

The goal is to raise $10,000, this will cover the cost of gas and food for two months. Unlike the trip 40 years ago that inspired "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" this one will step away from the drugs and more towards the economic crisis we currently face, and the seemingly dulled down life that is a result of American society.

I`m tired of feeling distant from other people, and I`m tired of this settling feeling of the entire country going to Hell. Everyone feels it, and nothing is done. We`re watching the toilet overflow while looking at the handle that cuts the water off.

The budget will be used well, as my two counterparts (one film specialist and the other is in law-school) and I will interview government officials, historians, businessmen, and average citizens. We do not look to use this money for anything other than food and gasoline for two months on the road.

The trip is planned as follows: We will drive to New York City, and down the East Coast, from there we will head to Katrina devastated areas in New Orleans, across Texas and up the West Coast, from there we will shoot through the heartland and back to Ohio.

During this trip we hope to find out if the American Dream does exist, or if it ever really did. With historical flashbacks of the 60`s and all of the political tensions of that time, we  will look forward to current days and compare the two time periods. With my political and historical knowledge, alongside the film training of one colleague, and the knowledge of rules and laws of the land on the part of the other, we can guarantee a great finished product.

Coming out of my senior year of college it would seem as if the world was in front of me, but instead I find myself only being offered jobs outside of my education, and financial choking keeping me from having the ability to follow my own dreams. Instead I find myself looking for a career I have no interest in, working in a city I don`t want to be in, just so I can pay off the debts of a college education that seems less relevant every day. Desperate times like these make someone do something irrational, like...SELLING THEIR SOUL ON EBAY!
