Extremely Rare White Label Promo of James Gang Rides Again!
Pics are of the actual record that you are bidding on and will receive if you win this auction.
Record is play graded and to me it is VG+ to Excellent. A little surface noise here and there but NO SKIPS or HANG UPS. The condition is amazing since this was actually used at a radio station which you can tell by the songs that are circled on the back of the LP. That told the DJ's what songs they were supposed to play. I cleaned it with my vpi record cleaning machine. See the pics for condition of the labels and the album cover. Has the original ABC inner sleeve. This first pressing also has "The Bomber" with "Bolero" read below to see why that's rare.
What’s so Special About a White Label Promo?
There are a few things that make white label promo records something of interest to collectors. First of all, they are different from stock, or commercially released, pressings. Since collectors like things that are different, that alone makes them something to add to their collection. Second, the white label promo pressings are usually pressed before the commercial copies, in order to get them to the radio stations prior to the release date. That means that the white label promo pressings are among the first records pressed from the stampers for a particular release, which generally means they will sound better than their stock counterparts. Stampers wear over time, and the last record pressed from a particular stamper generally will not sound as good as the first one pressed. White label promo copies are desirable simply because they often sound better.From Wikipedia:
James Gang Rides Again (alternatively known as simply Rides Again)[1] is the second studio album by American rock band James Gang.
The album was released in mid 1970, on the label ABC Records. It is the James Gang's first album to feature bassist Dale Peters.

- On the initial pressings of James Gang Rides Again, a 1:25 electric rendition of Maurice Ravel's "Boléro" is interpolated into the song "The Bomber." Ravel's estate threatened suit against both the James Gang and ABC Records for its unauthorized use.[4] As a result, the track was edited, and the "Boléro" section was removed on most subsequent pressings of the album. The edited song's running time on such pressings is 5:39. Some late 70's LP pressings included "Boléro" by mistake, and the most recent CD re-issue of Rides Again contains the full version of "The Bomber," with the "Boléro" section restored.
