This is one of the more appreciated underground psych records and for good reason it's one of the best.  It's also very psychedelic as made evident by the spectacular album artwork, but there are really a lot of trippy moments on here and they were certainly as out there as any of their British contemporaries but whilst also remaining well within the pop paradigm and boy do they have songwriting chops to boot.

"My Clown" displays the brilliant psych pop/rock that is spread throughout this classic album with it's acid guitar and ethereal vocal harmonies.  "Dandelion Seeds" is another bonafide psych classic with it's trippy demented guitar.  "Jolly Mary" is a catchy number and "Hallo To Me" has otherworldly vocal melodies.  "You Missed It All" is one of the highlights of the album with it's dark psych sound and hippified lyrics.  By the time "The Way" ends Side A it's hard to think of any other British band in 1968 sounding so damn psychedelic yet simultaneously churning out brilliant pop tracks so consistently, well I guess there would be a good argument for the "Pretty Things" but still.

"To Be Free" carries the consistency over to side B, "Move On Sweet Flower" is a haunting progressive pop track, "Crying Is For Writers" has some damn fine psychedelic guitar and you have to give a lot of credit to Jon Field on percussion at this point his work throughout the album is excellent and aids the album in having a shamanic tropical twilight aesthetic to the album.  The last 3 tracks are all again high quality psych tracks with catchy vocals and trippy instrumentation there is absolutely no filler on this album every track is fantastic.

While it definitely contains plenty of elements of contemporary British psychedelia there's almost a foreign element to the album like it comes from somewhere with a much warmer climate somehow, It's a bit like how I would imagine "S.F Sorrow" to sound like if the "Pretty Things" were on ayahuasca in the jungle instead of acid in the U.K. I think that sums up the sound of the album pretty well.  It's just so damn consistent an absolute masterwork in British psychedelia.
