The vinyl is a MINT condition – UNTOUCHED UNPLAYED!!!
Key to condition grades…
To determine grades, my records are closely examined under full spectrum 100 watt lighting. In addition to a grade, I do my best to describe, in detail, the condition of the individual album components. Each record is cleaned using a professional grade Nitty Gritty record cleaner. And each come in the poly dust covers in which they have been stored.
MINT Sealed LP never been opened – any flaws, such as tears in the shrink wrap, cut-out marks, or dinged corners will be mentioned.
NM Vinyl appears un-played, may have one or two very minor flaws, which are always included in the description. You may hear an occasional low-level snap or pop (which you might hear on a brand new record, as well.) The cover too will be very close to new condition – any flaws will be described.
NM- Vinyl may have a few light scuff marks (paper scuffs… micro-scratches that can only be seen under good lighting,) but will play NM… in fact, many dealers would call this record NM. It may have some very-low-level noise in the lead-in and between songs. Any flaws will be described. Cover will appear new except for perhaps one or two very minor flaws, i.e.; a cut-out mark, a lightly scuffed corner, a subtle hint of wear.
VG++ This is a grade I rarely use. It will be an extra nice example of a VG+. Some collectors may call this EX. The vinyl will play through with no repeating ticks. It may have a few very light scratches, but these will be visible only under strong lighting. As with the higher grades, I will include a description of any flaws.
VG+ Vinyl will have a few light scratches and or scuff marks. It may contain some light background noise in the lead-in and between songs, but nothing that would be noticeable within the music. This record should satisfy all but the most demanding collector. The cover will be solid (no tears, no splits) Wear will be minimal (nothing too obvious.) May have a few minor flaws, which will be included in the description.
VG(+) Again, a rarely used grade. I might use it when describing a more rare or valuable record. This will be a VG+ record with perhaps one too many imperfections. Nicer than a VG but questionable as a VG+.
VG This is an (a little above) average record. I rarely sell VG records... unless they’re somewhat rare, or important classics. A VG record has been, for the most part, handled with (some) care. The vinyl appears obviously played. It will have many light scratches and scuffs, but will play through without skipping or repeating. It will have light surface noise, which should be mostly unnoticeable within the music and, at worst, rarely distracting. It may have a few audible scratches (repeating ticks.) This is a record for which most will still enjoy listening to. The cover may have a partial seam split, a minor tear, moderate ring wear, edge wear, or rubbing. Any significant defects will be included in the description.
VG-, G, and anything less… I don’t sell. I don’t sell anything I wouldn’t own myself.
