JOHN RENBOURN Another Monday 1966 UK TRANSATLANTIC MINT-

JOHN RENBOURN
Another Monday

UK TRANSATLANTIC (TRA 149) PRESSING (November 1966) OF JOHN RENBOURN'S SECOND LP
FANTASTIC COPY - BARELY PLAYED WITH BEAUTIFUL SOUND THROUGHOUT

PRESSED ON HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (143g) WITH THE MATT WHITE/PURPLE TRANSATLANTIC LABELS
MATRIX: TRA 149 A2 / STRA 149 B1
HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE

Renbourn's second album was very much in character with many of the records he would release throughout the rest of his career, excellent folk-blues, virtuosic but full of heart and imagination, and open to other influences from jazz and world music.
His inclination toward early music is evident on "Ladye Nothinge's Toye Puffe" and "One for William," the latter of which also features oboe.
More typically, though, he drifted into the blues idiom, two of the standouts being his interpretation of the oft-covered "I Know My Babe" (more frequently titled "I Know You Rider" when recorded by other artists) and his bottleneck playing on "Nobody's Fault but Mine."
For Pentangle fans, the album is especially interesting for the recording debut of Jacqui McShee as accompanying vocalist on three numbers, although her singing is far more subordinate and less assertive than it would be in Pentangle.

LABELS: MINT-
Immaculate labels - barely a spindle trace to be seen
VINYL Visual: MINT-
Both surfaces are unmarked and shine like-new
VINYL Audio: MINT-
Impressive crystal clear and immediate cut with a clean, bright and fresh sound. My play-check at volume found nothing to fault - plays beautifully and sounds sensational
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
Crisp, clean and unmarked single sleeve with no real wear to the edges or spine. The front laminate has a deep glass-like glossy sheen and the untreated back is clean. Just some handling creasing to the corners the only thing of note - nothing major
