Description

Scarce vintage jazz LP featuring JOHN COLTRANE on the BLUE NOTE label, from 1957.  Title is “BLUE TRAIN.”  Monaural pressing, catalog number is BLP 1577.

Record is thick vinyl, with deep groove.

Label address on both sides is "BLUE NOTE RECORDS  * 47 WEST 63rd * NYC.”  No "R"registry symbol.

Matrix number and “RVG” are hand-etched in trailoff vinyl, with "ear" symbol on both sides.  Jacket states "For Complete Catalog Write to BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23" on reverse at bottom.

Personnel consist of the following:  Lee Morgan – trumpet;  Curtis Fuller – trombone;  John Coltrane – tenor sax;  Kenny Drew – piano;  Paul Chambers – bass;  "Philly" Joe Jones – drums.

Side 1:

  • Blue Train
  • Moment's Notice

Side 2:

  • Locomotion
  • I'm Old Fashioned
  • Lazy Bird

Jacket:   Jacket is in overall nice shape, with several minor flaws.  Front art work is clean and bright.  No splits or stickers.  Original owner wrote name "Wee Willie" in neat pen in upper left corner on reverse.  Shows slight surface wear on reverse and minor wear spots at corners.

Vinyl:  Vinyl is very clean, has several light hairline marks scuffs on each side that do not affect the playing.  There are no serious marks, and virtually no wear.  Fidelity is excellent.  This is a very fine playing copy of this essential early Blue Note gem.

PLEASE NOTE:  Use of Paypal will be permitted only in cases where a bidder (1) has "open" feedback (not private), and (2) has at least 10 or more feedback comments on record.  Use of paypal will also be denied if, in my view, a bidder has too many negative feedbacks in their history.   If you do not meet these criteria, you may still bid and win if you are willing to send payment by bank money order (payable in U.S. funds) or other major payment service, subject to my approval.  If you are not willing to accept these terms, please do not bid.
