JO JONES – JO JONES SPECIAL – VANGUARD VRS 8503 – M-/M- WITH LUCKY THOMPSON – MONO This is Jo Jones first full recording session of his own and was recorded on August 11, 1955, featuring Jo Jones on drums, Emmet Berry on trumpet, Lucky Thompson on tenor, Bennie Green on trombone, Nat Pierce on piano, Freddie Greene on guitar, and Walter Page on bass. SIDE 1: SHOE SHINE BOY (take 1); LOVER MAN; GEORGIA MAE and CARAVAN. SIDE 2: LINCOLN HEIGHTS, EMBRACEABLE YOU and SHOE SHINE BOY (TAKE 2). This is a MONO recording.
I have graded both the LP and the record jacket as M- for the following reasons. The vinyl on both sides is completely clean of any marks. There is no wear in or around the spindle hole and the finish on the vinyl still has its original luster. The record jacket is in near mint condition, with no sign of wear.
