THIS IS AN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL COPY OF JIMMY SMITH'S CLASSIC ALBUM ROCKIN' THE BOAT, RELEASED IN 1963. HIS BAND INCLUDED LOU DONALDSON (ALTO) QUENTIN WARREN (GUITAR) AND DONALD BAILEY (DRUMS).
IT IS A GENUINE FIRST PRESSING, WITH ALL THE BLUE NOTE HALLMARKS, SUCH AS THE VAN GELDER STAMP AND THE P SYMBOL DENOTING THE PRESSING PLANT USED BY THE LABEL PRIOR TO 1966. THE COVER IS A HEAVY STIFF CARD AMERICAN VERSION WITH "PRINTED IN USA" ON THE REAR BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER, AND THE CORRECT BLUE NOTE ADDRESS AT THE TIME, OF WEST 61ST STREET, NEW YORK.
VINYL: EXCELLENT. PLAYS WITH NO SKIPS, STICKS OR BACKGROUND NOISE. STUNNING CLARITY AND DEPTH TO THE AUDIO FROM THIS HEAVY SLAB OF VINYL WHICH LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE NEW.
COVER: EX-. NO CREASING OR PEN MARKS, A RIGID AND FULLY READABLE SPINE.
WHITE REAR COVER HAS A FEW GRUBBY MARKS FROM STORAGE, BUT IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO DAMAGE. SLEEVE NOTES ARE BY LEONARD FEATHER.
LABELS: EXCELLENT, WITH NO WRITING, MARKS OR STICKERS. CORRECT LABEL LAY-OUT, FONT AND TEXT TO MATCH AN ALBUM RELEASED BETWEEN 1962 AND 1966.
