Description

On offer is a fine original and rare UK stereo copy of Axis: Bold As Love by the Jimi Hendrix Experience on Track (613003) of 1967.

This amazing record comes in a gorgeous flipback laminated gatefold sleeve which you may find hard to better (most are trashed and torn, floppy and dog-eared). But this original 'Made in Great Britain' MONO/STEREO gatefold has all perfectly straight edges, including the opening edge, which has virtually no signs of feathering or abuse whatsoever, and there are no tears, rips, creases or unwanted writing, and not even any half-moon creases. All the original psychedelic colouring of the laminated outer remains bright and unfaded; the starkly contrasting monochrome unlaminated interior gatefold depicting a full-on photo of the Experience also remains beautiful and undamaged. There is just some very slight wear on the corners, a tiny chip on the spine and, right in the top left corner of the titled front cover, there is a small area of laminate which, when held under light, shows where a small price sticker would have been, though there is no damage to the laminate. In all this is a very fine and desirable example of a glorious and much sought after psychedelic cover. It grades a comfortable EX-.

The thick-edged slab of original Track vinyl lies flat on the turntable and performs brightly and vibrantly, delivering all the aural wonderment and playful Hendrix stereo panning you would expect from a first pressing disc manufactured from as close to the original masters as you could wish for. The black Track labels are undamaged with no writing or signs of abuse while spindle activity reveals a reasonable amount of careful use over the last 40-something years. The discs themselves show a few marks here and there, but these are of the light wispy variety and do not affect play in any way. There are no nasty feelable scratches; this record has been cared for and not trashed, and does not resemble a miniature ice skating rink in any shape or form. The disc comfortably grades VG-.
