LP : Jeremy Steig - Fusion

2 record set, original German pressing from 1974 on GROOVE MERCHANT, GM 2204. Nice fully laminated gatefold-cover. The first record contains all of the songs from Steig’s rare Energy LP released on Capitol and recorded in New York in 1970, while the second record contains new 1972 material, recorded for this album. The title „fusion“ is a bit misleading because the record does NOT contain jazzrock, but soul-jazz & rare groove with outstanding funky overblown flute, heavy Fender Rhodes, dope beats & percussion, plus some breaks & loops. The rhythm-section of Hammer, Alias and Perla would perform in 1974 on the first Steve Grossman LP on Gene Perla's own pm ( = perla music ) label, called „Some Shapes To Come“, I already hear a bit of that album in the „Fusion“ recordings. You can listen to Energy, Elephant Hump, Up Tempo Thing and Cakes on youtube !

Condition: the records looks mint- daylight & in normal artificial light, they look mint-- to ex++ under a very strong halogen lamp ( side 4 has one tiny superficial mini-line ). Both LPs play in mint- all of the time. The cover is in perfect mint-.

Zustand: die LPs sehen bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint- aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sehen sie mint-- bis ex++ aus ( eine Mini-Line auf Seite 4 ). Beide Platten spielen durchgehend in mint- . Das Klappcover ist top, mint-. alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und angehört (meist ganz, manchmal in Ausschnitten). Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !

Grading & Cleaning:

  • the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

  • after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

  • I also visually graded the record in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

  • only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

  • cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve
