Having studied avant-garde, concrète and electronic music in Paris, Jean-Yves Labat de Rossi played with the obscure & short-lived UK prog outfit Baba Scholae , and then moved temporarily to Canada (recording with several Quebec artists), and ultimately to the U.S. to join up with Todd Rundgren for 2 prog-psych masterpieces ("A Wizard" & "Utopia") .....before recording his own debut solo LP, "M.Frog" in 1973.
"Underwater Electronic Orchestra" is his milestone second long play.....a progressive electronic funk-soul monster highlighting Labat's instrument of joice, the EMS Synthi-A, and boasting some killer percussion-beat that's still coveted by today's DJ's. This is the LP that features the numerous dynamite cosmic gems like "Matrix", "Little Drummer Boy" and "Orbit".
Sous le pseudonyme de Maestro Frog (M.Frog), Jean-Yves Labat de Rossi est, dans les années 1970, un rocker à succès aux États-Unis. Il joue avec les musiciens du groupe Utopia (Tod Rundgren). Il fréquente Woodstock et mène une vie sex, drug and rock'n’ roll.
