Gianni Basso is unanimously considered one of the most significant historic exponent of the Italian jazz. Born in Asti (1931), he studied the clarinet in his native city.His professional activity started in Belgium in 1946, as a member of the Raoul Falsan Big Band, where he standed out for his skills on the clarinet and tenor saxophone. During this period he reached his artistic maturity by playing with many European and American musicians, mainly in Germany and Austria.In the fifties he leaved the Falsan band and returned to Italy, where he founded with Oscar Valdambrini, the prestigious "Basso-Valdambrini Quintet", for years a prominent model in the Italian jazz scene.in this album recorded for tv spot and library music in 1967 for the national tv label :"cetra" there is many good track in the style of the recently idea6 release!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
