Description

Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats

Rocket "88" / Come Back Where You Belong

Chess 1458

The highly collectable early Chess record that many believe started it all. Rocket 88 side grades somewhere between V and V+, and the music is still very strong and much louder than the background noise. Come Back side grades V++. Both sides have plenty of gloss left and both labels are almost pristine as the photos show. Rocket 88 side has two small edge flakes. One partially extends into the first three grooves but does not effect play other than producing 3 minor quick clicks. The other very small edge flake does not enter the grooves. This record was tested using a Stanton 500 V.3 cartridge with a 2.7 mil 78 stylis and tracked perfectly at 2.5 grams. Come Back side has one small edge flake that does not enter the grooves. All in all, a very nice copy of a very rare and historic record by Ike and his gang.

The record will be expertly packed using the preferred "cardboard sandwich" method and secured in an oversized box with plenty of bubble wrap and/or packing peanuts. Shipping is $4 media mail or optional $8 priority mail (recommended) in US, both methods will include delivery confirmation and insurance. If you would prefer priority mail, email me at close of auction and I will send you a correct invoice.

Please see my other auctions for other blues, rhythm and blues and early rock and roll 78s. More records coming soon so save me in your favorites if you like what you see. Any questions, please ask. Thanks for looking and good luck!
