JACK RUBY HI-POWER VS. GEMINI DISCOTHEQUE – (TAD’S) Dub LP Sealed Copy
Sealed album with cell completely intact... Super-heavy dub business, a 1980 release... The title is absolutely misleading, it’s not a live sound session, there’s no Nicodemus and no Welton Irie on board here... The album is credited to Tubby’s (“Mixed At King Tubby’s Studio By Ling Tubby Himself”) and Errol “Flabba” Holt is listed not as bassie, but as the DRUMMER ... The mixing is nothing but BRUTAL, the drums & bass drop like there’s no tomorrow!!! The whole thing sounds like a Scientist session (quite similar to other Tad’s releases of the time, “Allied Dub Session” for instance). Super tuff choice of riddims with a sound that is extremely LOUD and custom made to be played on... well a sound SYSTEM, right? Original US press and probably not re-released until judgement day!
