Unique/Rare 1 only Original Pencil Wash Portrait on Rag -Yusef Lateef .. Signed
In the late 70's early 80's artist Cecile Szaszkiewicz was living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She used to frequent the night clubs back then...places like the Palms....the Shadows...and Darlings.....places where all the jazz musicians of the day would come.
Cecile was well known and there was always a table waiting for her where she would sit and sketch out her fantastic live art portraits of various performers...as they were performing.
On the evening of Feb 29 1980...one such performer was there... playing at the Palms....Yusef Lateef.
Cecile sketched off this fantastic "double image" of Yusef Lateef....and when it was done...he came over to her table......signed it. Then...according to Cecile (who is now 79 and still alive)...she says he turned the portrait upside down...saw a different face...and had Cecile paint the words..."Dad know my real name"
Heres a chance to own a one only portrait of Yusef Lateef. There are no copies. No prints were ever made. This is the original art...signed by the artist and Dr. Lateef
Yusef (Dr.) Lateef sadly passed away at the age of 93 on Dec 23, 2013. This is great investment piece as well.
- Actual image area is 10 x 13....and could be removed if you wish and sent very safely packed without the frame which is 18 x 25
