Description
Here we have the 1971 Vertigo release of Ian Carr 's Nucleus, Solar Plexus album. This is a must for any Vertigo Swirl label collector. Although its not the rarest of swirl releases its still very hard to find a copy of this album in decent condition, this is the first one ive seen for a while! and anyone who is a regular on ebay will know not many have turned up on here either, one was on here when I was listing this and after looking at the photos I would say mine looks overall in better condition so if you missed out on that one heres another chance,
So now for the condition, (EXPLAINED AS HONESTLY AS POSSIBLE)
Stamped matrixes: 6360039 1Y//1 420 1 1 2 and 2Y//1 420 1 1 2
Front cover: For a 37 year old unlaminated sleeve this has lasted very well. The matt black has faded near the edges slightly, but it still has a great dark colour, I believe that the sleeve could be cleaned aswell to take the fine layer of dust off which would make it even better, I did not want to attempt this though, Id say the front is EX- , have a look at the photos and judge for yourself.
Back cover: This is excellent, the red is vibrant and very few marks, with almost no fading.
Spine: The spine looks great, afew creases, labelling is intact, no tears or slits, slight wear top and bottom, but nothing major.
Inner sleeve: Looks great! almost new, colour is perfect, only afew tiny marks.
Inner: Original Vertigo swirl inner with polythene lining, has yellowed quite alot but no tears or rips.
Vinyl: This record has not been played much atall. The sound quality is superb! very glossy black vinyl, no real visible marks, one small mark on the last track of side 2, I played it on my Technics deck with Stanton stylus and the mark didnt make any real noise, only a VERY QUIET clip, almost inaudible, and only for the last 30 second of the track, un noticable even at loud volume.
Labels: As I stated earlier I believe this record has not been played much atall. Both labels are in near mint condition.
Top and bottom of sleeve: Slight shelf rub on bottom, but still lots of colour on there, top in excellent condition.
This record is not a mint example but I believe it is an excellent example that would warrant a place in a collection. This is an album that is very hard to get hold of and with the prices of Swirl Vertigo LPs rising its one not to miss!
