Extremely rare computer music release full of experimental electronic back from the 80's featuring mastermind italian composers Pietro Grossi, Albert Mayr and others less known. The pieces were created in the Computer Music Studio of CNUCE using the TELETAU interactive software package. 

Some info on the release:  Rare original issue, released in Italy on the great Edipan Records label on the great Musicisti Contemporanei series (Jesus Villa Rojo, Giancarlo Schiaffini, James Dashow, Daniele Lombardi, Gianfranco Pernaiachi, Massimo Coen, Electra Vox Ensemble, etc.). 

Minimalist before the Minimalists (Progetto 2/3_1961), pioneer of Computer Music, founder of the Studio of Phonology of Florence S 2F M (Studio di Fonologia Musicale di Firenze), visual artist and hacker ahead of the time This was Pietro Grossi, a larger-than-life Italian and composer who questioned the concept of musical authorship (Collage_1968) the idea of personal artistic expression: "A piece is not only a 'work' (of art), but also one of the many 'works' one can freely transform: everything is temporary, everything can change at any time. "Ideas are not personal anymore, they are opened to every solution, everybody could use them" (Unicum_1985). 

Pietro Grossi (1917-2002) was a pioneer of computer composition and tape music, who first experimented with electronic techniques in the early sixties, having initially studied music as a cellist. By the end of the Sixties Pietro Grossi immersed himself in the sonic possibilities afforded by programmable computer technology. For a long time he has been the head of the above-mentioned computer music division of CNUCE (Institute of the National Research Council of Pisa), carrying out researches on the following fields: computational musicology, automated composition, design of sound-synthesis systems and musical telematics. From 1967 until his death, he experimented with digital media: presenting computer music software at the Venice Biennale in 1970 and in the same year organising one of the first experiments in telematic performance through a telephone line between Rimini and Pisa. By invitation of lannis Xenakis, he presented another telematic concert between Pisa and Paris in 1974. Deeply opposed to entrenched ideas of musical virtuosity, copyright ownership and artisanship, he developed software that produced open, unfinished compositions, then distributed these around the world "to be used for various compositional purposes."

In the middle of the Eighties, he has started a series of researches concerning computer graphics. The "Homeart" (term coined by himself) project is particularly relevant: it consists of completely automated visual processes, based on simple computer programs, where he gives space to randomness in the context of a single compositive idea, developed into many different graphic variations.

Grossi has developed the concept of “HomeArt” using Qbasic graphics. The simple instructions of each program can be modified to create various processes within a single artistic idea/composition. Grossi’s concept of art also offers a broad chromatic range that can be either used directly or modified. His later works involved automated algorithmic composition, which he extended beyond the realms of music into the visual arts. Close to computer music pioneers Lejaren Hiller, Gottfried Michael Koenig, Udo Kasemets, David Cope, Michael Waisvisz, Charles Dodge, Joel Chadabe, etc. 

Albert Mayr (born 1943 in Bolzano) is an Italian composer of experimental and contemporary music. He studied music and composition in three different cities: at Conservatories in both Bolzano and Firenze and at the "International Ferienkerse fur Neue Musik" in Darmstadt.  In 1965, Mayr graduated in Musica and Canto Corale at the Conservatory of Florence.  From 1963 to 1969, Mayr worked with Pietro Grossi at "Fonologia Musicale's study" in Florence and received commissions from Musicologycal Division of CNUCE/CNR. He received commissions from Sudtiroler Kunstlerbund, from "Brixner Iniziative Musik und Kirche" and from Sound Art at Mobius, Massachusetts Council on the Arts and Humanities.  From 1969 to 1970, Mayr earned a "Canada Council Fellowship" for electronic music.  From 1970 to 1973, Mayr was in Montréal at Faculty of Music at McGill University.  From 1973 to 1990, Mayr taught electronic and experimental music at Conservatory of Florence.  Between 1974 and 1975, Mayr organized musical sessions at a psychiatric hospital in Volterra (Tuscany).  In 1975, Mayr worked with the World Soundscape Project.  Since 1977, Mayr has been the editor of conferences and seminars at the Sounds/Ambient in Zona in (Florence) and at Centro International of Brera, Milan.  Since 1979, In 1980, he founded the "Musica Oggi".  In 1984 and 1985 he released the documentary Von Zeiten una Leuten: am Biespiel Sarntal, a commission from RAI.  Since 1985, Mayr has been a member of "Association for Social Studies of Time". In 1986 has been editor of the session of "Vivere nel Tempo" meetings, organized by "Provincia di Firenze".  In 1990, Mayr was the coordinator of Laboratory of "Progettazione Temporale" by Filcams/CGIL in Florence. In 1994, he was coordinator of the "Il Castello Del Tempo" meetings, organized by "Provincia di Firenze" at Pratolino-Villa Demidoff's park.  Since 1995, he has been a member of Forum fur Klanglandschaft.  In 2004, Mayr released Proposte sonore, seven electronic compositions played in the 1970s and an instrumental track played in 1983.  In 2009, Mayr released Tape for Live Musicians by Miraloop, an independent Italian label. "Tape for Live Musicians" consists of three tracks. One of these was developed at musical research centre Tempo Reale, founded by Luciano Berio and directed by the colleague Francesco Giomi.

Condition: Vinyl lies in mint- condition very clean, while cover lies in very good condition with damage at bottom right corner and light corner and age wear (see picture).
