Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. The Beatles & Frank Ifield "Portrait Cover"

INCREDIBLE!

One of the most TREASURED of ALL BEATLES artifacts... only a handful of the real first 1964 pressing have been auctioned on eBay which attests to the fact of being one of the rarest and most highly desired of all Beatles rarities.

....................................................................................................

BOLD MONO SONG MIXES (SCARCE OVAL VEE JAY RECORDS DESIGN!)

INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL PRINTED VEE-JAY RECORDS INNER SLEEVE!

....................................................................................................

While this copy is not quite mint, it is in EXCELLENT condition; by far and away the best copy you're (ever?) likely to find outside of the miracle still sealed copy in which only three in the last century have been offered! That being said, we'd have to rate this copy as a historic museum quality artifact. Think twice!

.......................................................................................................
Note of interest: the only other copy we've EVER been able to offer was a nice VG++ cover/record we auctioned on eBay with winning bid at $2,651.00 that was followed up by a note from the satisfied customer advising 'joyfulness' in the item received.

.......................................................................................................

Only once in a great while does the (confirmed) first 1964 pressing ever turn up. Again, this is NOT a copy, reproduction or reissue, this is the "real deal" first print confirmed by "Beatles" experts. Contains perfectly aligned text on spine (see photo) which counterfeits from the early '70s do not have.

" A tremendous investment Beatles collectible that will only continue to rise in value over time."

........................................................................................................

This album is well known as one of the rarest and most valuable of all Beatles albums ever issued. It was the last album manufactured by Vee Jay Records, before their rights to the Beatles were to expire on Oct. 10, 1964. They had taken their Jolly What! The Beatles and Frank Ifield On Stage album, of which the cover had a rather questionable drawing of a British Statesman (referred by collectors as the "old man" cover) when Vee-Jay Records suddenly redesigned a new cover, prominently featuring a portrait of the Beatles, for a rush release. However, this version hardly made it to record stores, and less than 100 copies are reportedly to ever have been pressed when Capitol Records immediately issued a cease court order for Vee-Jay record company to immediately discontinue retail marketing. Citing copy-right violation for using the Beatles images was Capitol Records reason being the legendary group was signed to their label. This "portrait cover" album is documented as of the rarest of the rare BEATLES records.
.........................................................................................................

To this day, 53 years after its initial release, only three sealed copies have ever turned up. In 1995, one of the three copies sold for $22,000, and into a "permanent" collection (the buyer is unlikely to ever re-sell the album). Another one was last heard of in the New York area with an asking price of $25,000. Amazingly, two of the copies have been in their one-owner collections for more than thirty years. No original sealed MONO copies are known to exist, and no perfect mint copies, mono or stereo, have ever surfaced!

The album is significant in that, until the release of the Beatles' 1973 compilation album, The Beatles/1962-1966, it was the only American Beatles album to include "From Me to You".

Side 1:

"Please Please Me" – The Beatles

Side 2:

"I Remember You" – Frank Ifield
"Ask Me Why" – The Beatles
"Thank You Girl" – The Beatles
"The Wayward Wind" – Frank Ifield
    "Unchained Melody" – Frank Ifield
"I Listen to My Heart" – Frank Ifield

CONDITION: The cover: rated: "EX" (excellent) front cover, been in careful hands, no doubt, only very little previous use visual, the back cover is clean, near M- ... a fantastic copy from 55 years ago, as noted above, finding a better copy would be in the impossible category. There are no delete marks, no split seams = spine is solid and text aligned, no waves, and no writing...flat & square and original colors are strong.  ... Incredibly collection worthy item that hardly ever comes around. Check internet "popsike" for further confirmation regarding.

The vinyl: Rated: visually strong VG++ that plays with clean minty audio: thick heavy gauge inflexible platter has no more than a few minor non-audible finger nail type soft hair scuffs, nothing remotely deep, so guaranteed to play outstanding with solid clean audio throughout both sides. Both MONO "Vee Jay" labels are clean!
