IKE QUEBEC “Blue & Sentimental” RVG, LAM, Blue Note 4098 Mono Vinyl
This is the 1963, first edition, “RVG”-stamped pressing of IKE QUEBEC’s “Blue & Sentimental on the "New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP 4098. Musicians include Ike Quebec, Grant Green, Paul Chambers, Sam Jones, Louis Hayes, Philly Joe Jones, Sonny Clark.
VINYL plays with consistent low to medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with consistent pops and ticks (some repeating). Side 1, repeating ticks, entire side. Surface noise very noticeable on mellow cuts, which dominate the LP. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. NO distortion. NO skips. Many hairline marks, handful feelable. The “New York USA” labels show aging and spindle marks. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition, corners worn, one corner minor wrinkle, app 1” from corner. Spine and seams nearly perfect with some cracking. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows stains, long wrinkle, aging. Llease see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
