Description

This is Blue Note Records BLP4185, Horace Silver Song For My Father a blue and white, microgroove, New York USA label, original mono issue of this classic record with Van Gelder and the ear (p) mark stamped in the dead wax. The record is in VG+ condition showing  light marks on both sides but playing quietly except for light crackle during some quiet moments. The cover, with its 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address, has some shelf wear and clear tape on all three edges but is otherwise intact. The labels have a bit of color loss in the blue field but show no spindle marks. An original thumbnail inner sleeve is included as well. This was my own "play" copy until I upgraded at considerable expense. This is an excellent initial "play" grade copy of this beautiful original mono Blue Note. The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondeck LP-12 with the mono button engaged. Please check our other listings as we discount shipping for multiple wins. Thanks for looking.
* Please note: There is also a deep groove label of this album. According to Blue Note mavens Fred Cohen and Larry Cohn, after BLP 4060 the presence or lack of a deep groove does not establish whether that issue is an original (although Cohn argues that it is the non deep groove issue that is the actual original).  It is the other markers enumerated here that are determinate.
