Description

Very rare 2LP by bass baritone Herman Schey (born 1895) who worked for a long time with Willem Mengelberg. He is also singing on the famous 1939 Matthew Passion under Mengelberg. Felix de Nobel is a Dutch pianist who accompanied many famous artists like Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Julius Patzak, Suzanne Danco, Irma Kolassi etc. Both are performing the complete Winterreise by Schubert on this 2 LP set. Schey was 70 years old! This sublime recording/interpretation was done in February 1966 for Dutch radio and later presented in a limited edition of only 500 copies by the Siegro Studios, Rotterdam. No stereo exists.
