Description
BBC Transcription label. CN 2167/S. Stereo. Made in England 1974.
Very rare set recorded by the BBC and produced for broadcast only. Few pressed and never available for to the public.
1974 Cheltenham Festival. Szeryng Master Classes.
Szeryng discusses various pieces, listens to students playing small sections and gives criticism, demonstration and instruction. Absolutely mesmerizing!
3lps, 6 sides with 1 master class per side, except the first which is over 2 sides.
1. Adagio and Fugue from Bach's Sonata in C major. Student is Michael Bochmann.
2. 3rd and 4th movements of Brahms Sonata in D minor. Student is Serben Lupu.
3. Slow movement of Brahms violin concerto. Serben Lupu, violin. Michael Isador, piano.
4. Second half of the Chaconne from Bach's Partita in D minor. Martin Hughes, violin.
5. Beethoven violin concerto. Student is Michael Bochmann.
Szeryng plays on each disc as well as the students.
CONDITION:
Discs: all Near Mint. Look to be played only a couple of times at most.
Covers are generic BBC yellow card with catalogue numbers written.
Cuesheets are copies from another set I used to have. I don't have any more after this one!
