Description
Chuck Rio and the Individuals – “Cell Blockk #0” b/w “If You Were the Only Girl in the World” (Tequila 103). Chuck Rio is really Daniel Flores, the singer on his self-written song, "Tequila", an American Billboard number one hit in 1958 for The Champs. Flores was born to Mexican field workers in Santa Paula, California. He died of pneumonia in Huntington Beach, California Saxophonist Flores went on to release several other cuts under the Rio name but failed to achieve similar chart success. This is a re-make of classic and pervasive R&B song composed by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (although the label on this 45 lists the composers as Berry – Taub), the best known version being The Robins' song from 1954, which hit #1 in the R&B charts. It was also recorded by rockabilly artist Wanda Jackson. Record is in M- condition.
