Description
Selling-up my extensive record collection. This is a complete UK first-issue copy of the legendary Space Ritual live double. I got this in a big secondhand record shop in London, sometime in the 1970s.
Pictures are my own photos of the items for sale. Photos are part of the description, have a good look.
Cover - Unfolds, to a 3 by 2 flat card sheet. There is a lot of wear to the edges and corners, but it hasn't come apart. When closed-up, front cover shows ring-wear and general handling. Two small stickers top left, and remains of a big one, from the secondhand shop, and very light traces (towards top right) of the original £3.10 new price sticker. Back shows handling (scallop creases) and small stains. So, not remotely like new, but still in one piece, which is good for one of these. I have the two custom patterned inner sleeves, in quite good condition - both formed to the shape of the records, one has wear and a short tear at the opening, and one has some splits at the edges.
Records - Good! - Side 4 has a sticker on the label. Playing surfaces - side one has a light scratch along the grooves on track 2, and some streaky marks also on track 2. Side 2 has a long light scratch across tracks 2, 3 and 4. I also saw very light short scratches along grooves on track one and two. Side 3 has two light scratches along grooves on track 4, and another very light scratch on same track. On side 4, there is a streaky mark along the grooves on track 4. These lists of little flaws tend to mount up, but you're left with acres of vinyl that is fine and unaffected by any of the flaws. I play-tested sides 2 and 3 (quite loud, on my posh hi-fi). On side 3, some crackles can be heard, mostly soft ones, in the very few quiet parts. There are actually some longer quiet parts towards the end of the last track, "Space Is Deep", where crackles are particularly noticeable. Side 3 played very well - crackles can be heard on the first part of spoken-word piece, "Seconds of Forever" - then they do a lively version of "Brainstorm", which is great and I heard just ONE crackle as that played. So, Hawkwind being generally loud and rhythmic, long stretches of the album play with no audible problems at all.
I have been collecting records for 50 years (when finances allowed!), and now it's time to sell-up. I bought them mostly around local shops (second-hand), but sometimes from e-bay, and sometimes new, for my favourite bands.
When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.
Postage at cost within UK - £2.95. Happy to do combined postage wherever practical.
I'm happy to send this overseas, see below for details, if bidding from outside UK.
Dispatch will usually be "next day".
Collection in person is welcome.
I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad.
Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.
They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.
This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices. Combined postage may or may not be possible through the Program - if e-bay shows combined postage for their courier job, I'll do combined postage for the transit inside UK. I can't see information about this until you pay.
International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme.
If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid.
International postage to the following countries will be shown (this is the latest list that I've seen - lotta countries!)
Australia Austria Belgium Bulgaria Canada Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Ireland Israel Italy Japan Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands New Zealand Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand Turkey Norway Poland Portugal Romania Russia Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden, United States, Antigua & Barbuda Aruba Bangladesh Barbados Belize Bermuda Bolivia Brunei Darussalam Cambodia Cayman Islands Dominica Ecuador Egypt French Guiana Gibraltar Grenada Guadeloupe Guernsey Iceland Jersey Jordan Liechtenstein Macau Maldives Martinique Monaco Montserrat Nicaragua Oman Pakistan Paraguay Peru Reunion Saint Kitts & Nevis Saint Lucia Sri Lanka and Turks & Caicos Islands
International postage plus applicable customs charges will probably be shown to buyers in the following non-EU countries - E-Bay collects customs duty for the receiving country: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Russia and USA, and wherever else import duty is appropriate - e.g. Norway.
I WILL DEFINITELY NOT post to countries that are not included in the above lists, and I don't send to China.
