First up, here is a rare Harry Partch 10 inch record, containing his seminal piece “US Highball”, part of an estate sale. Released on his own Gate 5 label, this is labelled Issue no. 6, and was sold via the “Third Harry Partch Subscription Fund”. This is the 1st pressing, as it is stamped and was mailed out (probably by Partch himself) from Evanston, Illinois where it was recorded. Even though on Discogs the release year is 1958 (which is correct), the disc is marked copyright 1956.
Included is the original inner sleeve, which is a sort of waxy paper. Also included is the original trust fund form with details about the release, presumably the purchase slip was cut off and sent away to get more records. Check out the photos.
Finally, and most importantly, also included is the even more ultra rare original booklet from the 1946 triple LP release of “US Highball”. Unfortunately the records are lost in the mist of time, but in a way this booklet is even rarer - includes photographs of the instruments, full text and information about the recording. Impossible to find. I would sell this separately but it makes more sense with the later recording.
I’m not a collector or vinyl dealer so I’m going with what I can see, Sleeve is in fair condition. Record is in very good condition I would say, looks like it hasn’t been played much at all.
