Harry Partch - U.S. Highball
Impossibly rare, released by Partch himself on his own private Gate 5 label. These Gate 5 records are almost always trashed, with very worn sleeves. This week, I have three of these Gate 5 LPs, purchased from a long-time friend of Partch's, two of which are signed. I don't believe they were listened to much at all judging from the beautiful condition they are in.
This 10" is signed on the reverse by Harry to Bud, a longtime friend of Harry's. I purchased these LPs from Bud's niece, who told me that Harry rented a cabin from them in Santa Rosa and used to play classical music with them.
These recordings are incredibly fascinating and unique to this day. Truly extraordinary, and you will likely never see them in such remarkable shape again.
I have opened up the vault this week and unleashed a group of records I've been hoarding for the last couple of years. There are lots of rare LPs, 45s and 78s, including strange spoken word, jazz, early rock, blues, folk, soundtracks, twith a few ultra-rarities/unknown/one-of-a-kind.
Please take a look at my other auctions and save on shipping. I will combine shipping for items won in the same week, and I ship internationally. For LP grading, I use NM/EX/VG++/VG+/VG/G. I grade visually, but if there is any question I play grade. If needed, records are cleaned on a VPI record cleaner. For 78s, I use the standard grading system. Record condition: NM/NM-, nothing more than a few very light hairline marks visible only under strong light
Sleeve condition: NM, perhaps a touch of wear to the top edge from folding. Autograph has a very slight run in it, in the "or" from "For", but barely noticeable
I grade conservatively, so bid with confidence!
