Half Japanese – ‘Calling All Girls’ EP – 50 Skidillion Watts Records 7084-18 (USA)
This is a near mint copy of the original ‘Calling All Girls’ EP, playable at 33 1/3 rpm, released in 1977. Included are the brown mailer and the rare F.B.I. pass, items often missing when this set is offered for sale.
Here’s what the set includes (please see the scans for further information):
a) The EP inside a fold-out sleeve (the track listing is on the back).
b) The original brown mailer with artwork on the front, and two stamps on the back. One stamp says: Half Japanese, 3477 Uniontown Road, Uniontown, Md. 21157; the other says: RECORD Handle With Care.
c) The rare ‘F.B.I. Pass’, which says: ALL MOVIE TICKETS ½ PRICE.
d) A card saying: “I would like to see Half Japanese recorded on a major record label, and produced by John Cale” [with room for a signature].
e) A poster (burgundy print on heavy-duty orange paper) folded twice; this is how it came in the original package. Please note that the scan shows approximately one sixth of the poster, corresponding roughly to the top left corner. One of the folds is visible in the scan.
Condition: All items in the set are near mint to mint. The record has been played once or twice by the original owner (me), and, in fact, looks unplayed, save for a little dust. The sleeve is near mint, but the glue has dried, thus it opens a little further than was originally intended. There is a slight yellowing of the inner sleeve due to age. All printed inserts are near mint. Only the mailer shows some wear; there are creases along the edges, and a couple of tiny tears at the top (please see scans). There are no stains, however, nor any discolouration. The envelope, to the best of my knowledge, has never been glued shut; thus the thin layer of paste at the top is still intact. All in all, the set is in great shape.
