Description

Simply awesome pressing of this sax and trumpet powerhouse featuring both New Jersey's Hal Stein (who we sadly lost one year ago this past April) and Philly's own Warren Fitzgerald along with an additional group of three talented musicians (see photos for personnel and track listing). Eight songs that include "The Sarong is New", "Zounds" and "Choice Derby" to name a few. Recorded in Hackensack, New Jersey over two days in July of 1955, this Rudy Van Gelder recording (Progressive Records PLP 1002) as supervised by Gus Grant is as close to a mint record as one could want, test played and flawless!! Cover exhibits the same, with no splits and incredibly clean for an item that has been around for 54 years! Insurance is required on this item and will be added to the shipping charge at auction's end. Be sure to check our other listing for the another Progressive Records rarity, "George Wallington Quintet at the Bohemia".
