Description
HUMAN INSTINCT “Snatmin Cuthin” NEAR MINT LP RARE NZ PROG HARD RURAL ROCK
Human Instinct – “Snatmin Cuthin?” LP (orig. New Zealand Zodiac STEREO ZLP 1044, gatefold cover)
Release date: November 1972.
On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original NEW ZEALAND issue of the fourth album by HUMAN INSTINCT, which included MAURICE GREER (drums & lead vocals), lead guitarist MARTIN HOPE (FOURMYULA), bass guitarist NEIL EDWARDS (UNDERDOGS) and guest guitarist HARVEY MANN (UNDERDOGS, SPACE FARM, LIVING FORCE).
With the departure of guitar maestro BILLY TK, HUMAN INSTINCT evolved into a more conventional rock outfit. The ‘new’ line-up presents a diverse selection of material including re-workings of THE UNDERDOGS’ “It’s a Blessing”, HEADBAND’s “The Ballad of Jacques La Mere” (listed as “Jacques Le Mere”) and the FOURMYULA’s “Turn Your Back on the Wind”. Although considered tame by today’s standards, many music stores refused to stock “Snatmin Cuthin?” because of its controversial cover. This, along with the group’s change in musical direction led to an inevitable decline in sales figures at the time. 40+ years on, this album has become a major collectors’ item and is almost always the final HUMAN INSTINCT LP a collector requires to complete their set.
I’ve included a YouTube link to the opening LP cut below. Best of luck with your bidding!
