HANK MOBLEY ”Roll Call” RVG, DG, P, BLP 4058 mono Vinyl
This is the 1960, first edition, RVG-stamped, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, “P” pressing of HANK MOBLEY’s ”Roll Call” on the "47 West 63rd” labels of Blue Note BLP 4058. Musicians include Hank Mobley - tenor saxophone, Freddie Hubbard – trumpet, Wynton Kelly – piano, Paul Chambers – bass, Art Blakey - drums.
HEAVY-WEIGHT VINYL plays with consistent low- to medium-level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks (some repeating). But ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No distortion. No skips. Good gloss. Many hairline marks, a handful are feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove "47 West 63rd New York 23” labels are generally clean, show wear, spindle marks and pen signature on both sides. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in good shape, corners worn. Seams and spine show cracking, no splits. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC, 43 West 61st Street, New York 23” back jacket shows aging, stains, and poorly repaired, taped 2” tear. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
