HANK MOBLEY "Roll Call" Blue Note 4058, DG, P, RVG, Mono Vinyl
This is the 1961 first pressing, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, "RVG"-stamped, "P"-pressing of HANK MOBLEY's "Roll Call" on the "47 West 63rd NYC" labels of Blue Note BLP 4058. Musicians include Hank Mobley, Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Art Blakey.
VINYL plays with medium to high level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks, but Instruments are clear, clean, dynamic, powerful. Many hairline marks; four 1/4" marks feelable. No distortion. No locked grooves. No warps. The "47 West 63rd NYC" labels are bright and clean with minimal spindle wear. See photos.
The LAMINATED COVER is in beautiful shape, laminate strong. Spine and Seams are nearly perfect, see photos. Corners worn. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket is also in fine shape, with minor stains top and bottom. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5. .
