HANK MOBLEY - Mobley's 2nd Message - PRESTIGE PRLP 7082 (W. 50th St. N.Y.C.) - This LP is an original 1957 pressing and it has a Deep Grrove on both sides. "RVG" is stamped in the dead wax on both sides and "AB" is stamped in the B-side dead wax. HANK MOBLEY is accompanied by KENNY DORHAM, WALTER BISHOP, DOUG WATKINS & ART TAYLOR. The glossy cover is graded VG+. There is a 3" split on the top seam, starting at the opening. The rest of the seams look nice. The back cover has "2-15-58" written in blue pen in the upper right corner. Also the word "Goody" is written in blue pen just before KENNY DORHAM's name (see photo). Most of the tracks on this LP graded VG to VG+. There is light surface noise throughout the record that is often audible but never overwhelms the music. Even during a bass solo you can hear the instrument clearly. The exception to this is the track "These Are The Things I Love". It has several loud pops and more surface noise than the other tracks. It is possible that a professional cleaning could help this record but I don't have a VPI machine so I can't say for sure. Also, the rice paper sleeve is torn so I will ship the record in a new paper inner sleeve. My grading is careful so bid with confidence. All records are professionally packed for shipping.
