This is an extremely rare US doo wop/r'n'b/proto soul LP, the first LP released by Hank Ballard on the King label. It is credited to The Midnighters on the label and Hank Ballard on the cover. This is the rarer, early issue with the brown cover. The label is black with silver lettering. The King logo is three inches long. If you collect early rock and doo wop you will know this is an extremely hard to find LP in any kind of condition but this is an excellent playing copy which I am only selling now because I have been fortunate enough to find at great cost a near perfect example. 

The vinyl has many light whispey marks but still plays very well with no major reduction in sound quality. I would grade it VG- for appearance but near EX for listening quality. The cover is strong - its the early cover with adverts for other King LPs on the rear. Its major fault is that it has been 'invisibly' taped along the top and bottom seams where it has been split at some point. Still this is a very acceptable copy and where will you find another one any time soon. I'm starting this quite high for me but I can't afford to let it go for nothing because it is a really rare US LP and cost me a fair sum to buy originally.

Please note that unless the play quality is specifically mentioned records are graded visually. I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.

GRADING SYSTEM

NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above

EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.

GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.

I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.

I obtain a certificate of posting from the UK Post Office for all items. If an item is lost in the post I will claim on the buyer's behalf and reimburse when the Post Office pays compensation.
