Grieg Peer Gynt Beecham UK HMV ASD 258
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Beecham Choral Society conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham perform Grieg’s “Peer Gynt” Suite. An English stereo pressing on the HMV Label (ASD 258), the labels are cream with plum lettering, gold stereophonic and border, and a shaded dog logo. The record has a couple of prominent scuffs on side two that do not sound, and a smaller mark at the end of track one causes a little crackle. Otherwise it is of very good appearance and plays and sounds superb with some surface noise. As a recording, it doesn’t get much better than this. The cover has a ring and a fair few creases, and the laminate is spotted where is has lifted.
