Description

Great VG+ mono 1st pressing of pianist Walter Davis Jr.’s superb and very hard to find 1960 LP Davis Cup, Blue Note BLP 4018. Incredible lineup includes Donald Byrd, Jackie McLean, Art Taylor, and Sam Jones. This is the original pressing with featuring “47 W 63rd NYC” address. Plastylite “Ear” and RVG stamped in the deadwax. Cleaned using the Klaudio ultrasonic system.


Vinyl: VG+. Vinyl has great sound and plays well without skips pops or clicks but there is some background noise at the beginning/ end of each side and between tracks. Music always dominates, however, and comes thorough loud and clear via RVG’s stellar production. Record has one or two marks but these are cosmetic only and have no effect on play. Deep groove labels are clean and clear.


Jacket: VG- Front and back are clean but show considerable wear along edges and some foxing and flaking on back cover along with some writing and sticker by former owner/shop. Laminated front photo in good shape overall. Spine shows splitting although name of LP is visible. Despite the seam split the other three sides are in solid shape with only small fracture along bottom.


LP will come in protective Mobile Fidelity archive-quality sleeve. Cover will come in thick vinyl protective sleeve.
