Description
I will be listing some rare jazz and blues records from single collection over the next few weeks. Look out for my other listings of vintage Blue Note, Riverside, Contemporary, Pacific Jazz, Prestige, Savoy, Verve, Impulse, etc.
Grachan Moncur III Evolution (Blue Note BST 84153) Evoution is an uncompromising, forward looking post-bop modal jazz masterpiece that I wouldn't hesitate to include in my top 5-10 jazz recordings or all-time. Here avant-garde trombonist and composer Grachan Moncur III leads a 1964 Blue Note sextet session with hard-bop veterans Lee Morgan and Jackie McLean laying out across a landscape of stuttering percussion from Tony Williams and ringing vibes from Bobby Hutcherson. Incredible!
