Title:  Extra Texture TEST PRESSING LP 1975

Condition/Description:

 

Beautiful copy of this Harrison test from 1975.  As test pressings were intended to determine the worthiness of the vinyl before an LP goes to press, this copy was deemed not worthy.  The only flaw is that there is a deformity on the first band, indeed making the first track of each side skip.  It can best be described as a very small warp, but it isn’t quite a warp as much as it is a vinyl ripple. This is a manufacturer’s defect. The rest of the disc is very near mint.

 

The labels each have a numeral hand-written and circled in order to indicate which side is which.  The label copy sheet is flat, white and perfect.  It also includes two stamped hand icons, which indicate corrections still to be made before the final copy is approved for printing.  The copy sheet is also stamped to include the rare “All Rights Reserved…” disclaimer, which was only in use by Apple from October 1975 until January 1976, when the Apple catalogue was converted over to the new Orange Capitol label.

 

 Almost exclusively, Capitol’s West Coast plant performed their own test pressings as well as pressing promos.  The trail-off has Capitol’s West Coast asterisk pressed into both sides of the disc.  This is a genuine test.

 

Issued in a plain white cover.  Terrific example of a very rare item thirty years old.
