George Harrison Ravi Shankar Ali Akbar Khan Alla Rakah Apple Records Alternate One Sided Acetate Version of Side 1 of a proposed 2 LP Version of what would eventually be the 3 LP Box Set from 1971 known as  "The Concert For Bangla Desh" Apple STCX 3385. Years later the 2 LP version of the Concert 4 Bangladesh Album was released on a very limited basis.


This is part of a selection of Apple LP acetates from the collection of a former Apple Records Promotions executive from as early as 1970. Most of the acetates obtained from this collection have standard acetate labels but some of these acetates originate from even earlier in the audio review stage of record production and have no labels at all.  These unlabeled reference acetates have to be listened to on a record player in order to determine what they are.
This is one of those unlabeled reference acetates. At this point my best guess is that this acetate is from when Phil Spector was still deciding what mixes and songs were going to be on each side of what would ultimately become one of the most iconic three record sets ever released. Judging from the other blank acetates that came with I have determined that I have found three of the four one sided Apple Records acetates for the originally considered two record set that "The Concert For Bangladesh" was proposed to be. Ultimately the three record set was the one that was released in 1971.

This 12" alternate acetate contain live performances from the 1971 Concert for Bangla Desh in the following order.
1) George Harrison - "Vocal Introduction of Ravi Shankar and His Band"
2) Ravi Shankar     Ali Akbar Khan     Alla Rakah     Kamala Chakravarty - "Bangla Dhun"


This disk was originally owned by Phil Spector.
