Description

Is this a first for eBay....

A lovely UK original first pressing of the 'From Genesis To Revelation' LP. And it's the ultra-rare mono pressing with the different mix to the stereo release. This mono mix has never been re-issued. All of the subsequent LP and CD versions of this first Genesis LP have been of the stereo mix.

It is believed that this mono LP sold about 100 copies in 1969. No one knows how many of those copies survived the last 35 years but it is probably no more than a handful.

I've been a serious Genesis collector for decades and I've never seen another copy. These just never come up for sale on the open market. This could be your only chance.....

Decca LK 4990

Red 'unboxed' Decca labels in superb near mint condition - Perfect except for a few light spindle marks. No rips or tears, no writing and no sticker marks.

The matrix numbers are: Side One: APL-8839.P-1B / Side Two: APL-8840.P-1B. There was only one pressing of this LP. It has never been re-pressed or re-issued so these matrix numbers are irrelevant...)

Laminated (to front) Robert Stace sleeve with 'Albert Embankment' address to rear and mono / stereo 'hole'. Both mono and stereo catalogue numbers to the rear and the spine.

This sleeve is in fantastic near mint condition. These sleeves are very fragile and prone to wear. This one is lovely! - Just a tiny amount of storage wear and a very minor amount of ringwear. Clean, bright and straight with no rips, tears or splits, no writing, no sticker marks, no creasing (other than a few small laminate creases which would have been there from new). A lovely clean, straight spine. You won't find a better original sleeve than this!

Original illustrated lyric insert in lovely near mint condition - Perfect except for some very light, small creasing (no folds, no rips, no writing)

Original Decca mono poly-lined inner sleeve with red 'blocks' (that line up with the hole in the rear of the sleeve to indicate that the record is mono). Now I've read somewhere that this inner sleeve is sopposed to be the version with a wide red band around the edge rather than just in blocks. Personally, I think this is incorrect. This record was released in 1969. This was very late for a mono pressing (this is why so few of them were made). By this time, Decca had changed the design of their generic inner sleeves to the ones with red or blue blocks, rather than the wide band inners used on earlier albums (such as the Rolling Stones LP's). Having said that... my original stereo copy (up next!) has the wide band inner sleeve. If this bothers anyone, I can swap the 'blocks' inner sleeve with a red band inner from another mono Decca LP. If you win this LP and want another inner sleeve, just let me know!

So... on to the record itself. In a word, 'fantastic'! This is just less than genuine near mint. This is a lovely copy. Perfect except for a few light surface marks. Some of these marks have been caused by the paper inner sleeve, a couple are extremely light surface scratches. This record looks superb and plays perfectly throughout. Loud and clear with incredible detailing and dynamics.

You may never see another copy. You will certainly never see another copy as good as this!
