Description

From late 1992 Guided By Voices ultimate masterpiece released on the bands own imprint, Rockathon. Quite possibly the finest lp I've ever had the pleasure to own or listen to. I got this from Bob Pollard many yrs ago, in fact, all 4 of the GBV records I am listing came directly from him. This copy has handmade from back cover, in pristine condition, record has been played once if that. Like new. An amazing artifact, one that get's rarer & rarer to find as the yrs go by.
*Please not that any order exceeding 100$ will need to pay extra for insurance.

-All original copies came w/blank, white labels. The whole reason behind the blank labels & handmade jackets was to save money. The band took the DIY approach on this one as the prevailing thought was, 'if this one doesn't hit, that might be it'. No no reason to spend money on flashy jackets & labels. -The matrix on this original edition reads; 'Old Age/No Age (W/Rep's Serpent Mound snake swallowing an egg insignia) Propeller Side A' & 'Old Age/No Age (w/the insignia again) Side AA'. I tried as best I could to get a photo of the insignia, so that's the 3rd snapsnot in the gallery.

In regards to this copy of Propeller & what I definitely know about the making of this lp; -This is one of 500 existing copies of the original press run. -All the covers were hand designed, collated, silkscreened & whatnot by members of the band & friends. -It's true there are #rd copies of this lp but by & large, most copies are not. Chances are one faction of the folks making covers #rd the editions they themselves designed. -Autographed copies of this usually after the fact. That is to say, when 'Propeller' was originally released, (arguably) no autographed copies existed. Bob didn't start selling autographed copies of this until yrs afterwards.Actually, this copy came to me by way of Mike Rep, the producer, last week of Dec., 1992. -Of all the various editions that exist, it seems this design + the silkscreened bi-plane are the most 'common'.I have no idea whose design this represents.
