Another from my personal collection! Here is the original 1st UK pressing of 'Hogwash' by The Mighty Groundhogs. Features the earliest -2U -2U Matrix endings! and very earliest "1"to "1" Mother Stampers both sides. What makes this so desirable is that the vinyl is beautiful in my opinion and has only ever been played by me one time to record to tape when I initially purchased this and another to record for you to hear the album for your self in the player below. Audibly you will never find a better sounding vinyl in my personal opinion. The audio is to die for cristal clear and very very vibrant throughout. Audio graded Near as mint in my opinion. The original 1st issue un laminated Tri-fold gatefold cover is also in trully fantastic condition.A true Audio And Vinyl Archive Copy Never Need To Upgrade!
Hear the complete album in the player below! Actual recording from the vinyl!
Hogwash (November 1972) falls somewhere in between the Groundhogs' raw, blues-meets-electric rock sound of the late '60s and early '70s. It initiates more of a fundamental prog rock sound, with Tony McPhee's guitar work (along with a smattering of keyboard bits) taking on some well-maintained aggression. The album is the first for the former Egg drummer Clive Brooks, replacing Ken Pustlenik.
Groundhogs are a British rock band founded in late 1963, that toured extensively in the 1960s, achieved prominence in the early 1970s and continued sporadically into the 21st century.
The band was originally formed as The Dollar Bills in New Cross, London in 1962 by brothers Pete and John Cruickshank (born in 1943 and 1945 respectively in Calcutta, West Bengal, India). Tony McPhee (born 1944), the lead guitarist in an instrumental group called the Shcenuals, joined the group later that same year. McPhee steered them towards the blues and renamed them after a John Lee Hooker song, "Groundhog's Blues".
John Cruickshank suggested they became John Lee's Groundhogs when they backed John Lee Hooker on his 1964 UK tour: they later supplemented Little Walter, Jimmy Reed and Champion Jack Dupree when they toured the UK.
McPhee featured on Dupree's From New Orleans to Chicago (1966) alongside Eric Clapton. The Groundhogs issued "Shake It" b/w "Rock Me" on the Interphon record label in January 1965.
Their line-up on their first album, Scratchin' the Surface, released in November 1968, consisted of McPhee as singer and guitarist; bassist Peter Cruickshank (born 2 July 1945, in Calcutta, Ken Pustelnik on drums (born 13 March 1946 on a farm near Blairgowry, Angus, Scotland) and Steve Rye on harmonica (born 8 March 1946 in London – died 19 July 1992, in London). In 1969, the single "B.D.D." (Blind Deaf Dumb) flopped in the UK but hit number one in Lebanon.
The group's album releases Thank Christ For The Bomb (May 1970); Split (March 1971); and Who Will Save the World? The Mighty Groundhogs (March 1972), recorded as a trio without Rye, all reached the Top 10 in the UK Albums Chart. Split reached number 5, spending 27 weeks in the UK Albums Chart and achieved gold record status, while a single release from the album, "Cherry Red", was featured on BBC Television's Top of the Pops programme on 22 April 1971

The Vinyl
This is the original thicker /heavier type of vinyl only found like this on the earliest 1st pressings. The vinyl is free of any warping and lays perfectly flat on the turntable!
On inspection the vinyl looks barely ever played and I find it hard to even see any scratches at all on the playing surface. Certainly no audio sounding marks at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen in strong light would be sleeve removal type only. Visually this vinyl is Very, very Near Mint in my opinion!
The Audio Quality!
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume on a top system prior to this listing and recorded the complete album for you to hear for your self in the player above! There is not much more that I can say other than the Audio is as good as it gets in my personal opinion. Cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! No distortion No Loud Constant Clicks or pops Near Mint as good as it gets in my opinion!
The Labels
These are the original 1st issue United Artist Labels! These look almost as new in my opinion. Just barely a spider trace on each side indicating that this has obviously barely been played no more than a couple of times ever! There is no wear around the spindle hole it is perfectly round!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original United Artist Brown paper UK patented sleeve! There are no splits or tears just light minor creasing with age only!
The Cover
This is the original 1st issue unlaminated tri- Gatefold cover! There is no splits or tares This is strong and straight with no nasty creases to mention also no real rubbing wear worth to mention. Any imperfections you would jhave to look hard to notice in my opinion .The print is very clear clean and bright! All text is readable at the spine! A superb and rare example throughout amazing like this after 44years. This cover is graded at excellent plus to very, very near mint in my opinion.
