Description
A fine example of this LP. It's on the UK Vertigo 'swirl' label by Gravy Train entitled '(Ballad of) a Peaceful Man'.
It's a stereo recording and the catalogue number is 6360 051. It was released originally in 1971. It is a very rare record and this one is in fine condition with some minor blemishes.
OUTER SLEEVE - The sleeve is the original gatefold type which is laminated on the outside. The sleeve shows some very minor wear and creasing on the front and back but this is negligible. The edges and the spine are in fine condition and the wording along the spine is 100% readable. However, there is a very small (40mm - 1.5 inch) split along one edge which can hardly be noticed. In view of this I've graded the sleeve as Ex-.
INNER BAG - The inner bag is a standard polythene-lined Vertigo type with the expanding swirl logo on both sides. On one side in the bottom left hand corner it states 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS... ETC British Patent No. 800518 & 978939 - MADE IN ENGLAND - 5 0671'. The condition of the inner bag is Ex- because there is some slight discolouration on either side.
RECORD - The record looks clean although it's obviously been played a number of times and there are some very superficial marks on either side which do not affect the quality. It plays very well on both sides with some very minor surface noise and some definite pops and clicks on both sides which I believe is due mainly to the qualiy of the pressing. These blemishes do not detract from the overall quality of record. However, there is a superficial 15mm angled mark on the last track on side two which does produce prominent clicks for 12-15 revolutions. On my turntable there are no jumps on any of the tracks on either side.
LABELS - The labels feature - side one - the original Vertigo black and white swirl logo - side two - the smaller black and white swirl logo with the track listings for side one and side two. There are three very tiny blue ballpen lines under the numbers denoting tracks one and three (side one) and track three (side two). Underneath the catalogue number on the left side of the label there is a smaller number (6360 051 2). All songs are produced through Tyne Music and it states that the orchestral arrangements are by Nick Harrison. The record was produced by Jonathan Peel for Mike Vaughan Productions Ltd. The labels are both in fine condition with very minor spindle marks.The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - 6360051 1Y//1 11 1 - side two - 6360051 2Y//1 11 2. I've graded the record as Ex-- which I believe is very fair. I try to grade everything very conservatively and I believe that the winner of this auction will not be disappointed. I guarantee everything I sell.
