Gravy Train was a heavy, progressive, four piece band which featured the unique vocal stylings of lead guitarist Norman Barrett. They released four critically acclaimed albums, which, unfortunately, did not sell very well at the time of their first issue. It was not until decades later that music fans began to discover the timeless quality of Gravy Train's music. (A BALLAD OF) A PEACEFUL MAN is generally considered to be their best album. It is also their most rare LP as it was only issued in a few different countries. It leads off with the emotionally wrought "Alone Again In Georgia," and it does not let up from there. The songs become more progressive with each succeeding track. The album features absolutely amazing guitar playing from Norman Barrett, and it is guaranteed that J.D. Hughes' tasteful flute and keyboard playing will leave you utterly astounded.
UK pressings of (A BALLAD OF) A PEACEFUL MAN regularly fetch over $700 dollars. According to label expert Barry 'Mr. Vertigo' Winton, "(A BALLAD OF) A PEACEFUL MAN is an excellent follow-up to their impressive debut, and without a doubt one of Vertigo's most sought after rarities. It has all the right ingredients." Noted record collector Marcel Koopman, notes that (A BALLAD OF) A PEACEFUL MAN "is one of the main collectibles on Vertigo and one can only hope that the still surviving band members still have a box of this in their attic." Please refer to Mr. Koopman's excellent and informative web site for more information with regard to the famed Vertigo label: http://www.vertigoswirl.com.
On a grading scale of M-, EX, VG+, VG, G, and P the condition of this album is as follows:
Disc = EX (the disc is very close to M-, it looks as though it was only played a couple of times).
Cover = EX
