GO FOR IT - Go For It ( 1991 Virgin Scandinavia )

GO FOR IT was the project Geir Olav Bokestad started after Norwegian pop/hi-tech rockers Drama disbanded. Compared to Drama, Go For It is more West Coast/hi-tech based - not really much of a surprise with members of Lava contributing as session musicians. (Most notably Egil Eldoen on backing vocals.) Vocal session ace Frank Aadal (Skorgan, Rannveig Johnsen etc.) also lends his voice to this release.

Whereas I don't know GO FOR IT's lead singer Marc Sorrone and keyboardist Roger A. Anderesen from any other projects than this, I can assure you that the resulting sounds are right up the alley of bands like DRAMA, PRIVATE EYE, LAVA, AVENUE TALK, FINGERPRINTS and WEST OF SUNSET. Songs that left an impression on the first listen were "Take My Hand", a LAVA (circa "Rhythm of Love")/TOTO inspired effort, whereas the lovely "I Refuse" has quite a FINGERPRINTS and WEST OF SUNSET ring to it. "Change Your Last Name", on the other hand, is more akin to George Michael, albeit with a distinct hi-tech hint to it. Overall, this is an album which is impeccably performed and has quality material from beginning to end. If you're a fan of Aor /West coast/Pop/Hi-tech, GO FOR IT comes heartly recommended.
