Description

Trespass A2/B2 ('The Famous Charisma Label' Pink Scroll Label)

This UK 'pink scroll' label LP obviously needs no introduction. Needless to say it is very rare and highly collectible. This particular one also has low stampers as can be seen, also comes complete with original lyric sheet and original inner sleeve with this LP.

The audio on both sides is Ex (Ex+ in many sections)

The gatefold is Ex-

The labels are Near Mint

Visual grading

The vinyl has been very well looked after and is very clean and retains a glossy sheen after all these years. There are some faint hairlines and two more obvious ones on Side One, one of which runs across the first two tracks but they are fine and have no bearing on the audio. I would not describe them as scratches. Side Two has two small scuff type marks on track one and some other faint hairlines but I would honestly say this is one of cleanest 'pink scroll' pressings I have seen for a number of years. So whilst the vinyl has been played a number of times due to the spindle wear it has clearly always been carefully handled by its previous owner.

Play grading

'Looking For Someone' starts with hardly any background noise, just a touch of light static here and there. The audio is so clear, I heard a couple of clicks about 40 seconds and there is slight distortion on the higher level but in all honesty the audio is of excellent quality. The quiet sections of this track (and there are many!) play superbly well and there is just no intrusive crackle at all. In fact the second half of this track plays with Near Mint audio it is that good! The quiet intro to 'White Mountain' has a couple of light clicks and the whole track plays very well with just a few clicks here and there but again there is no crackle. Just some minor distortion on the top end again but perhaps that is more my system causing that. The intro to 'Visions Of Angels' is simply sublime as plays as new. Thereafter there is minor intermittent static and a little distortion but there are no clicks. I have to say I am very impressed with the audio on this classic track. You expect some interference on a vinyl nearing 50 years of age ! and yes there is a little on this track but it is minimal and very much in the background. I would say there is a little more distortion towards the end of the track where it plays louder.

'Stagnation' on Side Two only has minimal interference at the beginning i.e. one click and the slightest hint of static. From there on the track plays with superb quality. There is no crackle just a very small amount of static every now and then. There is a soft hiss sound half way through but it does not last too long and is not particularly intrusive. Again there is a little distortion on the top end but in all honesty for a 'pink scroll' pressing you won't find many that play better than this. 'Dusk' plays with similar quality with only one click at the beginning and only light intermittent static thereafter. An excellent listen with very little interference. 'The Knife' is a real highlight and plays with wonderful audio. The sound is so clear and plays with great clarity and I only heard one pop during the whole playback. It is hard to believe this vinyl is 47 years old considering the high end quality of this audio.

In summary this is great example of this iconic LP. As you would there is some interference but in my opinion it is minimal and not intrusive. There is no loud crackle just some static here and there and only a few light clicks that you would expect. In all honesty I was very impressed with the sonic quality of this vinyl and is one of the best I have heard in a long time.

Cover

This textured E.J. Day gatefold is in overall excellent condition with a little shelf wear. There is some rubbing to the edges and some handling wear on the opening edge but it is not excessive and the spine remains in excellent order. The corners again have some rubbing. The actual cover is very clean and only has a handful of minor marks. The sticker removal mark top right is the most obvious area of wear. There is also a name written top left but is very faint and too me a while to spot! The inside of the gatefold is in lovely condition with only 3/4 light marks along the top edge. The back cover is very clean and only has one small mark and a minimal amount 3of ringwear.

Inner sleeve

This includes a plain white inner with a patent number and Made in England printed on it. It has one split at the bottom and mild creasing. Also included is the original lyric sheet in excellent condition only a little creasing to the right edge and a few little spot marks but not that noticeable.

Labels

The 'pink scroll' labels are extremely clean with no marks and only some spindle wear.
