Description

A bit of a special one for Genesis fans This Promotional single came out in The Autumn of 1970 - given away to radio stations to promote The Trespass LP - It announced the beginnings of Genesis lavish progressive sound - Its B side is the mellotron drenched Visions of Angels. Serial Number GS1/2 on the newly founded Charisma Pink Scroll label. Its by all accounts extremely rare. Now condition - Using Record Collectors grading I would place it at The upper end of Good as there are surface marks that do make sound crackles at the start of both sides About a minute into side A (Looking) there are some tiny but more pronounced scratches that again sound . But the later half of both sides then improve and sound great - In fact better than my original pressing of Trespass - The label on The Vision side is in Excellent condition. And The Looking Side is very good with just light wear by the outer spindle hole. The rumour is that a few of these were given away by manager Tony Stratton Smith at his Sunday Special Night Gigs at The Marquee Club in London which caused a bit of a scramble particularly when The Record company staff asked for them back - This may account for the reason why a lot of these look a bit scuffed - Normally promos stay with radio stations and are hardly ever played ! As a treat this one comes with a custom Sleeve featuring what I suspect is one of the only photos of the Genesis Line up that created Trespass - still one of my favourite Albums ever - Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Philips , Tony Banks and John Mayhew. I know mint ones of these are at a premium and fetch quite crazy sums - but this is not mint but would still be a neat addition to any Genesis Collection or indeed for anyone who just likes great music .
