Description
General Echo
Up for auction is Rocking and Swing (DRS LP001). Released in 1979 on the Manzie label, this was the first LP by General Echo (Earl Anthony Robinson). One of reggae’s most influential deejays, his career abruptly ended when he was shot dead by the police at the age of 25. The record was produced by Dudley Manzie Swaby and engineered by Crucial Bunny, Ranking Barnabus and Maxie. Backing includes Sly Dunbar & Mikey Boo Richards (drums), Ranchie McLean (bass), Rad Bryan & Bingy Bunny (guitar), Gladstone Anderson & Ansell Colins (keyboards) and Deadly Headley, Trommie & Bubbles (horns). Matrices read: DSR 9810A Dudley Swaby/ DSR 9504B D. Swaby. Made in Jamaica, the record was kept in a poly-lined inner sleeve and the jacket in a poly outer sleeve. The jacket is graded Excellent and record Near Mint.
