Extremely rare blues masterpiece valued at over $8000 in Goldmine's album price guide!
Original U.S. pressing in BEAUTIFUL condition for its age of over half a century.
THE FRONT COVER IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION: THE LAMINATED FINISH STILL LOOKS VERY BRIGHT AND CRISP.
BACK COVER HAS A SMALL TEAR ON THE BACK BELOW THE KING LOGO, OTHERWISE IT IS ONLY VERY LIGHTLY AGED.
TOP SEAM HAS A 4" SPLIT IN THE RIGHT CORNER.
AN INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND COLLECTOR'S ITEM IN UNUSUALLY GOOD CONDITION.

Blues shouter, and later gospel preacher, Gatemouth Moore got his start in Kansas City while still a teenager, singing for the bands ofBennie Moten and Walter Barnes. Graced with a smooth but powerful voice similar to Charles Brown, Moore spent the 1940's penning and recording songs, most notably "Have You Ever Loved a Woman," which would later be covered by B.B. King and the previously mentioned Charles Brown. Others would revisit Moore's songs too withRufus Thomas covering Gatemouth's "Somebody's Got to Go" andJimmy Witherspoon adopted "Christmas Blues". In 1949 Moore gave up secular singing for the gospel trail. He still sang and recorded, but almost exclusively gospel material and spent most of the ensuing decades working in churches and promoting gospel music through radio programs that he hosted. In 2003, Moore appeared in directorRichard Pearce's film Road to Memphis singing a latter day song he wrote titled "Beale Street Ain't Beale Street No More." The following year, the singer dubbed Gatemouth because of his massive voice passed away from natural causes at the age of 90.

RECORD GRADING POLICY
MINT = like new or near new with only one or two small insignificant defects, a 9 or better on a 1-10 scale
EXCELLENT = Would be Near Mint, except for a couple of light hairlines or scuffs, which do not affect play
VG++ = still a very nice record with all or nearly all of its original gloss but may have a few more light, surface marks, hairlines, needle tracks or the like which should not materially affect play
VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
VG = a well-used record that still should sound OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.
Good = not actually good at all but probably will play through but with much in the way of surface noise, pops, crackles, etc. Still, will have no cracks, chips or the like
Fair = you’re getting this record just to own but not to play
Poor = the sky’s the limit, generally I will discard a record this bad (and sell the cover, jacket or sleeve alone) unless the label holds some particular interest

PLEASE NOTE: We have set our shipping prices to cover costs on an average basis. You may be charged slightly more - or less - than the actual cost of postage; Priority postage varies according to destination, records and jackets vary in weight, all of which makes it impossible to set an exact "correct" price for all customers, especially internationally. We ship all LP's in new (unused) custom LP mailers. We pack records with filler pads, placing the disc in an inner sleeve outside the cover to prevent seam splitting in transit. Part of our postage fee covers the cost of the mailer and pads (which currently costs us up to a dollar per).
